DIGITAL WORK
In addition to packaging and product design, I also designed pieces for print, digital and trade shows. Fiskars engineers and develops products for all aspects of the home, from yard care and home improvement, to sewing, crafting and classroom. I worked primarily with sewing and crafting products.
Print Ads
The ad campaign for Fiskars Amplify™ Shears focused on 3 things: the beauty of the scissors themselves, the array of difficult materials that these shears could cut and the projects that could be created with those materials. All photography used in this campaign was specifically concepted, constructed and photographed for Amplify™.
Print ads were also created for Hobby Lobby's quarterly magazine. Following an established 3 page template, each quarter featured a different product and coordinating craft project. While the template already existed, and the craft project photography was provided, I was responsible for creating the overall layout, including: the background image at the top of the first page, developing a color palette based on the project and season, curating stock photography and taking original photography as needed.
Additional ads required original lifestyle photography. We worked with a professional photographer and set designer to select locations, models and props to create the exact photo needed for each mini product campaign. Beginning first with the right messaging and constructing the photos from there.
In-Store Signage
Print pieces we commonly created focused around the product planogram in stores. JOANN Frabric & Craft stores were the most accepting of our header, violator and other signage suggestions. Included here are a selection of header signs I created. These signs usually highlighted a specific product or product category that the section of POG contained. The first set of 6 headers are examples that primarily utilized photography Fiskars already owned, including product and project photos. However, images such as the layered papers for the corner squeeze punch and the images for the clear stamps were created from scratch.
The second set of header signs adopted a new, more colorful style. These signs include unique, custom photography. With the help of a professional photography studio, myself and another designer hand made most of the projects featured as well as purchased fabrics and papers that we used to stage the other photos.
Internal Posters
These posters were created and displayed within Fiskars U.S. corporate office in Madison, WI. As a global leader in product design and engineering, Fiskars strongly believes in the power of simplicity - a marker of the corporate brand. These posters highlight the beauty of their custom engineered products and the resulting landscape.
Sales Materials
Majority of sell sheets created were simple, featuring the product itself and the designs produced. New products, such as the Fuse Creativity System®, required additional explanation of the product, how it's used and exactly what it produces.
Corporate Events
This booklet was created for the 2012 Management meeting held in Madison, WI. It needed to outline the agenda for the three day event, as well as educate Fiskars global employees on the U.S. location, highlighting local attractions. In keeping with Fiskars corporate "simple" branding, I created a brochure that pairs clean typography with bold photography from a local Madison artist.
Trade Shows
Fiskars 2013 CHA trade show booth focused on their newest product, the Fuse Creativity System®. It included areas to educate consumers on the product, but focused primarily on what the Fuse was capable of creating. The booth floor had oversized stickers of letterpress designs, and large shadow boxes contained inspirational art created by myself and other team members using the Fuse Creativity System and other Fiskars product. The center of the booth was split in two, with themed rooms that showcased projects and decor created with the system.
Digital
I also designed graphics for Fiskars website, social media and digital ads based on existing ad campaigns or specialty promos.
